THE DESIGN PROCESS

INITIAL CONSULTATION

During our Initial Consultation we come out to your home armed with lots of questions to establish your design style, vision, requirements, budget and scope of work. We want to learn all about you, your interests, your likes and dislikes, how you live now and how you want to live in the future. Everything we can learn about you helps us to create the home of your dreams.

After our meeting we then prepare a Design Fee Proposal based on all the information gathered during our Consultation. The Proposal outlines the scope of work, defines Phases of your project as well as the Deliverables associated and provides a fee estimate for your project.

CONCEPT DESIGN

Between our Initial Consultation and the Concept Design Presentation we will have been busy preparing all our initial ideas such as Mood / Concept Boards, Floor plans and or cabinetry / joinery plans providing potential options and possibilities and any initial finishes and fixtures we’ve started to consider.

Once we’ve settled on a design concept, you’ll be required to confirm and provide all the details for your appliances so we can get to work incorporating these accurately into the final design. We can assist you in selecting these either by recommending showrooms you can visit in your own time or meeting you there to offer guidance in your decision making.

TRADE DAY

Now that we’ve settled on a design concept we consult with your builder and/or trades utilising their expertise to ensure our concept is feasible. Armed with this knowledge we’ll discuss your options with you and adjust your concept if required.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PRESENTATION

Once we’ve confirmed your concept we start adding in all the details. If required we will liaise with your Architect, Draftsman or Building Designer to discuss any alterations to your home / floor plan that may require council, building or development approval*. At your Design Development Presentation you will be presented with both 2D and 3D drawings allowing us to show you every towel rail, clever integration and customised joinery detail. We will have selected all your materials, finishes and fixtures such as as tapware, sanitaryware, benchtops, joinery finishes, flooring etc and present any samples at this meeting. Now that we can see your space really coming to life we will also present you with any feature lighting options as well as a lighting plan if this formed part of our scope of work.

If the Exterior of your home also forms part of our scope of works we will present you with any Conceptual Ideas, colour palettes and materials at this point. This is done now to ensure that we create a flow between the exterior and interior of your home. Another meeting will be scheduled between this one and the Design Documentation Meeting to present the finalised selected Exterior Scheme and samples.

At this point you are provided with the opportunity to make any final changes prior to us completing the Design Documentation.

DESIGN DOCUMENTATION

Between the Development and Documentation phases you’re likely to hear very little from us, that’s because it’s the most design intensive and critical phase of the whole process where we detail, notate and record every facet of the design, fitting, fixture and material through drawings and schedules ensuring you’re able to obtain accurate quotations and your builder and tradesmen aren’t left scratching their heads. Upon completion of this you will be presented with an A3 Documentation Package including all relevant 2D and 3D drawings and Schedules, as well as a Dropbox link via email which you can pass onto your builder. If you have chosen to work with Eucalypt Studio through to completion of the build I will also meet with and liaise with your builder and relevant tradespeople with you or on your behalf to obtain quotes during this phase.

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD

In the case where you have nominated Eucalypt Studio to assist in managing the design outcome of your renovation or new build we will meet with your builder and tradespeople on site as required as agreed in your scope of works.

If you have selected our Furniture and Art Curation Service this is when we start pulling together all your finishing touches! You can see the design process for this stage here.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Woohoo! Time to celebrate you’ve made it through one of the most difficult times you could experience. We’ll pop over to your new home and take lots of photos of what you and I have created together along with a little housewarming gift. After all you deserve it!
